Where to sleep > Lodges > Quintana Roo
The main attraction here is swimming with whale sharks. You can mainly do this in Isla de Holbox, during the whale's visit to the Quintana Roo coast during the months of June to September. As it is a harmless animal and because of its way of feeding (it swims slowly and close to the surface), it can be easily observed. Tours are offered ranging from 4-8 people. They also offer tours to other places of interest in the area, such as cays, mangrove forests, pristine beaches and Yalahao Lagoon (Laguna de Yalahao), a natural freshwater lagoon that is near Holbox, where you can observe various birds like the flamingo and osprey, among other species of marine wildlife including manta rays, dolphins and turtles.
Boats can accommodate up to 8 passengers, each one is fully equipped to provide comfort and safety for visitors.
To get to Chiquila, go to Nuevo X'can then head towards the town of Kantunilkin, and continue to Chiquila, where the cooperative offices are located beside the main dock.
